                                          REDP has changed their lives

Rayapudi is a small village in Thullur Mandal, Guntur district. Most of the people are dependent on agriculture. Both men & women go to farming every day. But there is a small Muslim community in the village where the women were restricted to home only. They were not even allowed to go for farming and earn the income.

Muvva china Bapi Reddy Memorial trust has identified & motivated these women and started the Tailoring training program with the aim to increase their Livelihoods within their homes. This training program was started on August, 2009 and total cost for the training was borne by MCBRM trust. Through this training program totally 30 women were successfully trained. There was a good response to this kind of training program in rural areas. After completion of the training program to the first batch another 30 women from 3 different SHG’s viz…Salam Women Group, Khaja Mohiyuddin Group and Samrajyam Women has gathered and requested MCBRM trust to conduct the same kind of training program to them.

MCBRM trust has availed the Rural Development Entrepreneurship development program from NABARD. Under this program NABARD will support the NGO to train the rural women for enhancing their skills in any trades. Apart from this they will also provide the loans for starting the private enterprise. MCBRM trust with the help of NABARD under REDP scheme has started the batch of Tailoring classes and trained 25 women. This training was held for 2 months (i.e. from 18th Jan, 2010 to 18th Mar, 2010).

Totally 45 women were trained in two batches out of which 35 women have purchased the sewing machines by availing the loans. These women have started the tailoring centers in their homes and earning Rs.3500/- to Rs.4500/- per month.

Feed back from one of the beneficiary:

“Earlier I have no knowledge about sewing. Once I joined in the REDP batch, I was trained very well in the area of tailoring. My faculty Mrs. Sunanda had taught me with a great patience and interest. Today I have a small entrepreneur unit at my home and able to earn up to Rs. 5000 per month”-
